A1 Special Questions: Factory Engraving
Were the factory engraved A1 specials jeweled?
If Gornet engraved an A1 at the factory, did he sign them? Did all the factory A1s have 2 bbls or could they be ordered with one barrel only. I'd like to find an A1 with factory engraving and am trying to educate myself. Thank You Kindly |
Go to the Grades tree on the website and read about the A1S description that is offered. It will give you some insight to jeweling/engine turned on this grade. The Parker Story will give additional info. There's only about 80 or so of these fabulous guns so I suspect parameters are non-existent with this clientele. Good luck and if you find one I would like to hold it :)

Are ya sure he’s not asking about the Repro’s ?

The A1 specials that were made at the factory in Japan were all the same as far as engraving goes. The A1 special “custom grades” were all engraved by Gournet state side from “in the white” guns. The wood was finished, but all metal was polished bright and ready for engraving. All of the gournet A1 custom grade guns were finished in french gray with blued barrels, guard and buttplate. I would think that all of the custom grades were signed by Gournet.
I cannot speak to jeweling as being standard or not on the factory guns. And I am not sure if it was standard fare on the custom guns either. |

Woukd the difference there be where a customer ordered a custom grade through PR vs just buying a white gun and having their engraver or choice finish it? Or would the PR company send guns to whatever engraver the customer wanted?
