Cheddite hulls

I picked up some cheddite12 gauge clear unprimed hulls and was wondering about recipes. I have a lot of clays and green dot, and cheddite and win 209 primers.
Manufacturers data does not cover these ingredients and was looking to see if anyone uses these components and if not does anyone have other components they would suggest for lower (7000ish psi) in a steel barrel.
Thanks

If you go to the Hodgdon reloading center online, they have recipes for Cheddite hulls. A lead 1oz load with Cheddite hull; 18.1 grains of Clays; Cheddite 209 primer; and GU 1225 wad. This gives you 7200 psi and 1180 velocity. However I do not see any recipes to use with WW 209 primers.

Perhaps others will chime in if there is any reloading data in other reloading books. I always refer what the powder manufactures recommend and I do not vary components especially for these older SxS stocks and steel / Damascus.

Thanks that sets me up. Just need the wads. I have a pile of cheddite primers.
Real helpful!

Grafs is out of the gu 1225 and I am striking out on finding another dealer. Would appreciate it if anyone knows who else would carry them or if there is an equivalent from another manufacturer. Thanks

How many do you need?
I'll check my inventory tonight, might have some to spare.

Dave,
That is very generous of you. I don't need many at this time as I am in winter reloading mode getting ready for spring and the club is snowed in right now. Enough for a round of skeet would do as I want to test out a new/old GH I just acquired. Trade you some Vermont maple syrup.
Thanks!

I have about 5000 of the 1222 wads, as that is what I use for 2-1/2" hulls.
I don't reload 2-3/4" Cheddite hulls any more, but I have 400 of the 1225 wads left.
E-mail me your info and I'll send you however many of the 400 you want, right after X-mas. asphaltdave@comcast.net

I have a couple loads, that I had tested by Tom Armbrust.

New 2-1/2" Cheddite hull. Can be purchased from Graff's and sons.
It comes primed with Cheddite primer, but you can use Win. 209 after.
20 grains International Clays
GU-1222 wad. can also get from Graff's.
1 oz. lead shot
1200 FPS @ 6800 PSI
If you adjust your reloader correctly, you'll get perfect crimps,
with either 6 or 8 point crimp.

You can also use:
21 grains of IMR-PB for 1125 FPS @ 6000 PSI
22 grains of IMR-PB for 1225 FPS @ 7200 PSI
These loads were also tested.
Regards, Dave

If your loading 2-3/4" hulls, you can use the same load data listed above, except use the GU-1225 wad. Pressure and velocity will be the same.
