A boy and a dog

I took my grandson out for kids pheasant day today. We took my youngest setter as he has never worked pheasant, strictly grouse and woodcock. So, it was a first for both of them. No, he was not shooting a Parker. That will come with time. They both did well and grandpa had a ball watching.

Just curious, but is that Special Field a 12 or a 20? It seems to have sealed the deal nicely, whichever chambering it is! Congrats to all three of ya.

It's a 20.

Nothing else matters quite so much after seeing that it is a straight grip. Nicely done!

Pheasants in the morning and squirrels in the afternoon. A pretty good day.

Gary,
I'm taking my grandson for squirrels tomorrow. I hope we have as good a day as you and your grandson had. He's not old enough to go for pheasants in the junior season yet. He'll be carrying a Springfield 410 double. |
Squirrel stew with dumplings..... mmmmm.. mmm...

Yes, squirrels are quite fit to eat and taste pretty much nothing like chicken. There's a reason so many of us hunt them like we do, and poverty (as many seem to think) has little to do with it. |
Just curious Gary but would they be similar to rabbit/hare in taste? ...my uneducated mind seems to think they would
