Help with disassembly
 

I have s/n: 26763 sxs (D3 T O C 10 32) that is gunked up and needs cleaning. I have removed the side plates, bottom screws, top screw, the trigger guard but I am not able to get the stock off.
It wiggles, but that is all.

What have I missed?:banghead:

Did you remove the trigger plate?

Guess not.

I have the three screws out.
But I am unable to get the plate loose.

Is there a trick to it?

Through the slot in the frame that the barrel lug fits into you can tap the plate from above using a wooden dowel and a light mallet. It should then drop out easily.

Careful not to use a sonic cleaner on those side plates. This practice is reported to break/fracture the springs.

The trigger plates on hammer guns are usually VERY tightly fit into the frame. More so than the hammerless guns. I don't think there was one yet that I have broken down that came apart easily.

OK, guessing I should have removed the barrel lug prior to this. I see a pin that is hidden by the side plate. I assume that holds the lug in place and I should remove it and that will open up the slot to tap on the trigger plate. Right?

No.... you should be able to fit a rod or doewl in there to tap out the trigger plate.

Right down through that rectangular opening where you can see the yellow towel is where you will put the dowel through and tap out the trigger plate.
