HOOSIER SxS CLASSIC
Time to mark your calendars Gents. Looks like we are on for the 4th year. Even with COVID we had a good crowd last year with 44 shooters as I recall. Hoping for an even bigger crowd this year. The PGCA was represented with 5 shooters. I have hopes that we can increase that number this year. Info as follows:
4TH ANNUAL HOOSIER SxS CLASSIC SxS SHOOT 08/21/2021 TRI COUNTY COON HUNTERS SPORTING CLAYS HIGHWAY 129, BATESVILLE, IN SHOTGUN START AT 10:00AM -- LUNCH INCLUDED COST FOR 100 BIRDS AND LUNCH --- $55.00 This is a fun shoot with non registered birds, no trophies or prizes. The purpose is simply to bring together some like minded folks who share a common appreciation of the SxS for a fun morning of shooting. Shoot any make, model or gauge that you like. If you have something to sell or show off please bring it along. As most of you know the display has grown over the years and I would encourage you to bring something along. Please RSVP to me at the email address below if you plan on attending so that I may plan accordingly for the number of expected shooters or feel free to give me a call if you should have questions. All shooters will receive a ticket for the door prize drawings. Last year we donations from several generous businesses. I would expect most of them to be back on board again this year. They will be recognized as time nears. Randy Roberts 812-584-1021 randy@hsiagency.com |
60 Days and Counting !
Good Morning All:
Another 30 days has elapsed, with plenty of activity I might add. The Weather Gods have not been kind to most of us of late. Record flooding in my area over the weekend and it appears a good deal of the remainder of the Country has weather issues as well. Some of our friends in Northern IN were surely restless last night as the storms went through. Hopefully all are well. Plans are underway now to insure that the Classic goes on as normal. Most of you recall our good friend Greg “Fudley” Shaffer whom we lost in March of this year. Greg was a good friend and a constant presence at the Classic as well as many other shooting events. If you ever met Fudley you know that he was a jovial fella with a laugh that could fill the room. This years shoot will be dedicated to his memory. Sign ups have been brisk as compared to prior years. It appears that folks are ready to get out. Back at you all in 30 days. Take care ! Best: Randy |
And while you are there, stop at the Batesville Casket Co. and pick one out--kill 2 birds with one stone

THE COUNT DOWN HAS BEGUN
30 Days and counting. 46 shooters signed up as of today with at least 8 PGCA members that I know of. Please do RSVP if you can make it.

LAST CALL
Good Morning All:
Time has flown and the day is almost upon us. As it stands right now we should have a fabulous turnout exceeding prior years attendance. We can still make room for a few more if need be. Please do read the following concerning the weather and road construction. WEATHER: As of this morning Weather Wanda has down graded the chance of rain to 30% for Saturday with that being hit and miss depending on where you are standing. Please do bear in mind that we are under no time constraints or rules when it comes to getting the shoot in. We can delay the start, take cover and resume if it should rain, and I suppose you die hard duck hunters can shoot in the rain if you like. Recalling the first year when the skies opened up we had a little social time, ate lunch, and then shot under pleasant skies. Getting the last squad is out by 2:00 is the only priority so I am confident we can all get the round in under the current weather forecast. ROAD CONSTRUCTION: For those of you coming in from the South SR 129 is shut down just on the South side of SR 48. I have been told there is a chance it may be open by Saturday morning, if not the detour is a simple one. When heading N on SR 129 from the intersection of SR 350 (proceed on SR 129 and disregard the road closure signs) go approximately 1 mile to left (West) on Mud Pike Rd, then .8 miles to right (North) on CR 200E, then 1.8 miles to right (East) on SR 48 which will take you right back to SR 129 and you will have effectively circled around the construction. Turn left at which point you will be 1.5 miles from the gun club. Coming in from the North (I 74) I am not aware of any construction. Shotgun start at 10:00AM so I would plan on arriving a little early to allow for signups etc. One last thing, please do consider bringing your favorite SxS for the display. You can shoot and display the same gun, possibly at the same time ! See you all Saturday morning ! |
I’d like to venture out one year especially if it expanded to a two or three day event . But this years out I’ve already gotten PPV for Pacquiao’s possibly last fight Saturday night .

I tried to talk Randy into making this shoot a 2-3 day event but I'm afraid that's not in the cards. :crying:

Randy, any photos of the "Hossier Daddy" award??
|
Sorry fellas but this is a 1 day fun shoot at the local gun club with no bling involved and I don't see it going any further. Actually they do not have the facilities to pull off a larger event with parking, vendors, etc. Now if I happened to live on and or own my own course I might consider that, well heck that would make it easy to organize then, right Mike ?
Actually I can't begin to imagine the ordeals you must encounter in organizing something like you have going on with your SxS shoot. Very similar to herding snakes with a stick I would wager. |
Actually, with all the logistics involved we still really enjoy hosting our SxS event. It is fun. That said I will not be sitting at the computer doing data input for 4 days next year!!
Hosting the PA State Sporting Clays Championship on the other hand has no resemblance to fun or enjoyment at all. :banghead: |
