WWII Parker with better pics and serial #
5 Attachment(s)
Please forgive me, I'm slowly learning how to do this. As I said prior, my father recently passed and left me a Parker that was given to him by his cousin. The cousin was with the American forces that initially entered Tokyo towards the end of WWII. He told my father that the gun was used to gaurd American POW's. The buttstock is stamped with a four digit "inventory" number preceeded by a Japanese marking/symbol. The serial number is 220053 and on top of the sight rail it says "Parker Bros Makers Meriden Ct. USA vulcan steel." Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Tom, your re-patriated Parker is a standard, bottom grade gun, and all Parkers were well made. A research letter can be had for many Parkers through this site's home page ( $40/60) . Research of the Parker records may reveal that this was one of a shipment of many to Japan, or it may merely state that the gun was shipped to some dealer somewhere. You won't know without a letter. Parkers ended up all over the world.
This is the first Parker in WW II Japan I have heard of, but I am by no means an expert. |
Thank you very much for the info. The next step will be the letter.

Tom: You will want to get the stock of your Parker fixed. It is badly pinned at the head. That's, probably, all that I would have done & do get that letter.

Prices
Given the astronomical prices for bona fide Japanese WWII Militaria I would not touch it until you know more.

Thanks for the advice. I completely understand that all of this is way over my head. I wont be doing anything myself to this gun. Thats why all of your advice is so appreciated.
