Up/down barrel movement

I have a slight bit of up/down movement in an 1892 PH. The barrel does not have the hardened insert. Would the proper repair procedure for this issue be to upset the metal at the bite, like on an English gun, or something other technique?

There is a far better technique that isn't at all as "upsetting" the lug's bite. A bit more money perhaps, but certainly the right way to do it.

What is that?

If in fact the problem lies in a worn bite, it can be welded up and taken down to the perfect fit with fine filing. I am doing just that with a set of 10 gauge, 2-frame Damascus barrels to fit my 1899 DH that came with 30" 12 gauge Titanic barrels.

The 1910 style insert can be put in and the appropriate bolt put in. Or a new bolt can be installed and fitted to work with your barrels the way they are.

I’d prefer the new bolt option. I can do that myself. I could deal with TIG option fitting but do not have anyone to TIG on hand right now.

Brian, what’a a bolt run?

I offer new straight bolts that would need to have the angle cut/filed into them to fit your bite. They are $75.00 each as per my advertisement in PP.
