Phillip Carr 04-10-2016 07:22 PM

I am truly impressed. What a great gun.

charlie cleveland 04-10-2016 07:59 PM

now thats my kinda gun...tha i like the 8 lbnks for posting this gun..this answers my questions i have finally seen a 6 frame 12 ga...i like the weight of the barrels but i seen a 3 frame set of 10 ga barrels in 30 inch length that weighed 8 lbs 14 ounce.i have a 3 frame 10 ga with stamped weight at 7 lbs 14 ounce...i love the heavy weights of these old guns this 12 ga 6 frame tho is the heavist wight of barrels i have seen...what a duck gun and what a odd combination of chamber lengths..i have a stevens 12 ga with 3 inch chamber on the right barrel and the left barrel in 3 1/2 inch chambers but i lenthened them myselfmaybe some day i will lentghened the the right barrel out..would not recommend any body do this theirselves.....charlie

Craig Larter 04-10-2016 08:48 PM

I know that gun it was just on GB. It's a 10ga I believe. The new owner is a friend and a frequent poster and a PGCA Life Member.

Rick Losey 04-10-2016 09:02 PM

yes, the book does say 10 and 30"

Bruce Day 04-10-2016 09:21 PM

The owner states and we measured 12 and 32, but that's OK, I deleted the post.

Craig Larter 04-10-2016 09:32 PM

By all means don't delete the post I certainly could have my facts wrong. My friend doesn't have the gun in hand yet. I was just stating what I was told.

Bill Murphy 04-11-2016 09:06 AM

Is there an item number for this gun?

Bruce Day 04-11-2016 10:12 AM

I checked with the owner. It is a 10 ga, not a 12 so I was mistaken. I measured the chambers and they are as stated, 3 and 3 1/2 on a 6 frame. Mike will offer it for sale.

greg conomos 04-11-2016 10:04 PM

Jack Puglisi had a 12 on a #6 frame. He showed it to me and said he spent a ton getting it restored. He said it was very rough when he found it. I think it was a GH grade.

I'm sorry Bruce, but I don' t understand, if someone questions what you post because of what they see in the Book so you pull down important pictures because you got pissed.....The "Book" is wrong many times and I think CL was going by that, so now he knows the book can be wrong. Why take your bat and ball home... Sorry I just don't understand the logic with that....!

CL and the book weren't wrong on the gauge

but- it would be nice to be able to have a conversation about what looked like a great gun

Agreed. It is not very nice to start off a good thread with good pictures and then delete. I for one enjoy Bruce's pictures

Craig Larter 04-12-2016 04:08 PM

I was going by what the seller told the buyer whom I know. The gun is right in my opinion.

Bill Murphy 04-12-2016 05:04 PM

Bruce and his "firm" have been criticized for deleting posts many times before. No problem, I handled his apologies for him in this case. So Bruce has taken his marbles home and will be back with fresh marbles and Parkers soon.

I saw the gun on GB and still have the auction saved .

If memory serves your friend got the gun from them less then 24 hours after it was put up for sale . Well I mean made the deal and the auction stopped . I liked the looks of the gun very much .

Guns in the middle #3 frame 10 on top and a #1 16 on the bottom !

Gun was shown on a scale weighing 12.6 pounds .

Brian Dudley 04-17-2016 07:49 PM

looks like quite the gun. Good to see mike got a sale on it.

Craig Larter 04-17-2016 08:16 PM

We plan a duck together this fall him with the PH #6 frame 32" 10ga and me with my D #6 frame 36" 10ga. Should be quite the adventure! Combined weight 28 pounds of Parkers. Pictures will be posted.

Rick Losey 04-17-2016 09:01 PM

As someone once said

"You're gonna need a bigger boat,"

Bill Murphy 04-18-2016 11:01 AM

Craig, you can take my pair of #6 frame tens as backup. They are both factory 3 1/2" chamber guns.

charlie cleveland 04-18-2016 11:06 PM

what a great pair of guns cannot wait to hear how the duck hunting goes

Scott Janowski 04-24-2016 11:33 AM

The original "fat boy"

[QUOTE=Rick Losey;193510]As someone once said

"You're gonna need a bigger boat,"

Better yet:

"Take 'em along for ballast, Chief"

MARK KIRCHER 05-06-2016 07:57 AM

THE BEAST has arrived and she is ready for the marsh - I had it double checked by Dr. Craig - she's is a 32" hammerless 10 bore on a "sturdy" #6 frame. Minimum wall thickness -.130 and a healthy .270 and chambers edge. The gun has been used but not abused. Mallard's beware!!
I expect to bring it down to Huassman's in early June. Anyone who wants to shoulder it there had best start doing pushups now :rotf:

Brian Dudley 05-06-2016 07:59 AM

Wow! .270" at chamber! That is over twice what barrels normally measure at that point.

Mills Morrison 05-06-2016 08:16 AM

Better get a new sturdy boat

Rick Losey 05-06-2016 09:46 AM

can't wait to see it Mark

Bill Murphy 05-06-2016 10:30 AM

My #6 frame Vulcan Steel ten has minimum wall thickness of .100 and I thought that was thick. .130 is astounding. Congratulations.

Craig Larter 05-06-2016 05:24 PM

The amazing thing is the bores have been honed maybe .010 and it still has .130 of wall. My #6 frame 36" has a min wall of .080. Can you say Meriden sewer pipes! It is truly a beautiful example of waterfowl guns that existed 100 years ago during a time that will never again be. A gun that was used but not abused. It is almost unimaginable for us modern day waterfowl hunters to understand the old times. How many hunts does it take to smooth checkering and wear CC to silver!! Mark is a youngster, but he is the perfect caretaker of such a great example of Parker gun-making and the continuation of waterfowl traditions.
