I know that gun it was just on GB. It's a 10ga I believe. The new owner is a friend and a frequent poster and a PGCA Life Member.
yes, the book does say 10 and 30"
The owner states and we measured 12 and 32, but that's OK, I deleted the post.
By all means don't delete the post I certainly could have my facts wrong. My friend doesn't have the gun in hand yet. I was just stating what I was told.
Is there an item number for this gun?
I checked with the owner. It is a 10 ga, not a 12 so I was mistaken. I measured the chambers and they are as stated, 3 and 3 1/2 on a 6 frame. Mike will offer it for sale.
Jack Puglisi had a 12 on a #6 frame. He showed it to me and said he spent a ton getting it restored. He said it was very rough when he found it. I think it was a GH grade.

CL and the book weren't wrong on the gauge but- it would be nice to be able to have a conversation about what looked like a great gun |

I was going by what the seller told the buyer whom I know. The gun is right in my opinion.

Bruce and his "firm" have been criticized for deleting posts many times before. No problem, I handled his apologies for him in this case. So Bruce has taken his marbles home and will be back with fresh marbles and Parkers soon.

If memory serves your friend got the gun from them less then 24 hours after it was put up for sale . Well I mean made the deal and the auction stopped . I liked the looks of the gun very much . http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...pswmnmxslj.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psrr6zte9f.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psdyevzld7.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psf3xzxg9p.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psnqnr82tc.jpg Guns in the middle #3 frame 10 on top and a #1 16 on the bottom ! Gun was shown on a scale weighing 12.6 pounds . |
looks like quite the gun. Good to see mike got a sale on it.
We plan a duck together this fall him with the PH #6 frame 32" 10ga and me with my D #6 frame 36" 10ga. Should be quite the adventure! Combined weight 28 pounds of Parkers. Pictures will be posted.

As someone once said
"You're gonna need a bigger boat," |
Craig, you can take my pair of #6 frame tens as backup. They are both factory 3 1/2" chamber guns.
what a great pair of guns cannot wait to hear how the duck hunting goes
The original "fat boy"

[QUOTE=Rick Losey;193510]As someone once said
"You're gonna need a bigger boat," Better yet: "Take 'em along for ballast, Chief" |
THE BEAST has arrived and she is ready for the marsh - I had it double checked by Dr. Craig - she's is a 32" hammerless 10 bore on a "sturdy" #6 frame. Minimum wall thickness -.130 and a healthy .270 and chambers edge. The gun has been used but not abused. Mallard's beware!!
I expect to bring it down to Huassman's in early June. Anyone who wants to shoulder it there had best start doing pushups now :rotf: |
Wow! .270" at chamber! That is over twice what barrels normally measure at that point.
Better get a new sturdy boat
can't wait to see it Mark
My #6 frame Vulcan Steel ten has minimum wall thickness of .100 and I thought that was thick. .130 is astounding. Congratulations.
The amazing thing is the bores have been honed maybe .010 and it still has .130 of wall. My #6 frame 36" has a min wall of .080. Can you say Meriden sewer pipes! It is truly a beautiful example of waterfowl guns that existed 100 years ago during a time that will never again be. A gun that was used but not abused. It is almost unimaginable for us modern day waterfowl hunters to understand the old times. How many hunts does it take to smooth checkering and wear CC to silver!! Mark is a youngster, but he is the perfect caretaker of such a great example of Parker gun-making and the continuation of waterfowl traditions.
