Restore or not...need opinions

Attached is a photo of a GH for sale with Damascus barrels that have been rust blued and has an oil soaked stock that needs recheckering and refinishing. The price is unusually affordable and I'm thinking if the barrels can be restored and the stock properly rechecked and refinished I'd purchase the gun. I do like the configuration of 30" barrels choked IC/F and the gun seems to fit well. The frame was restored at some point and has nice case color. My questions are, 1) do you think by looking at the photo the stock is too oil soaked to be properly refinished and 2) can rust blue Damascus barrels be restored to original barrel finish? Thanks for your input beforehand.

I have seen much worse wood saved. I imagine the barrels can be redone.

Have decided to pass on this one.

The cost of redoing the barrels and refinishing the wood would likely equal or exceed what you would be paying for the gun. You may not care, but that would be the case, and it is something to consider.

Anytime you see a poorly redone gun, the biggest concern is what else did they mess up and whether the gun has been "restored beyond repair"

Judging by the 'cracks' under the new finish of the stock head it looks like the wood had started to go "punky" from excessive oil and lack of proper care.

Am I missing the specifics of the gun? Gauge? Frame size? Are there two sets of barrels? I would think those details would be necessary to determine whether or not to restore or not.

Size 2 frame, 12 gauge, single original barrel...run of the mill GH. Nothing special.
