Parker that makes ringing sound when fired
I'm talking about a very subtle chiming sound at the shot. A friend just bought a nice GHE and is experiencing this. I had a DHE 20 that did the same thing, both barrels, btw. I've always assumed it was the action springs, but I don't know.
Has anyone ever experienced this? |
I've occasionally experienced and others have also reported a chiming or ringing sound upon firing. Most have attributed it to vibrations of the toplever.

Ringing Sound
I had a Trojan 12 ga. That made that sound. Harmonix - almost like a tuning fork. I loved that sound. Especially when the dove dropped. A friend of mine had a Fox Sterlingworth that made the same sound. Never any trouble with either gun.

I had a Browning 12ga 325 O/U that would ring with fast 1 oz loads.

Have a 1 frame 12 thats left barrel makes the chime sound fired or snapped, the right also but much less. Firing the gun if your ear plugs are good it seems to come through the stock to my right ear. makes the same when ringing the barrels suspended by the lug.

Not uncommon. And not an issue.
A search of this forum may turn up threads about it in the past. It has come up a few times. |
This phenomenon is known as “The Parker Ping”

I actually enjoy the sound. Unfortunately, I sold the gun that made the joyous noise.
|
I've always thought of it as a good thing, an indication that all is right with the barrel assembly.
|
I thought it was just my ears :rotf::eek:
