Interesting DH Engraving
3 Attachment(s)
This one is for sale on GI as listed by William Larkin Moore. A 1915 vintage with some unusual engraving that I personally like. Any deas on who the engraver may have been, possibly Anschutz or Runge in that era ?

Please read my next post on this thread. . |
That gun has lots of unusual features. No safety gun, but with 28" barrels and open chokes. I would like to see a letter on it to see if that length and choke config are original. The front sight sure isn't.

Wondered the same thing myself Reggie. Maybe it came from a GA plantation and a Gentleman who pursued Mr. Bob from a horse drawn wagon with a brace of fine dogs.

Started life with 32" barrels if I am reading the serial # correctly.

That was what I was afraid of! |
In my previous post I had stated that I thought 1915 was a little early for Frederick Anschutz but I was wrong.
Anschutz began with Parker Bros. in 1897 and was chief engraver and head of the engraving department from 1911 through to his death in 1930 when Runge took over. So, the unusual engraving on this gun may well have been done by him, though the animals on it are not executed in what he was known for on the grades above 5 and and up. . |
Could it be... the 2nd barrel?
