Nope, not a Parker but another good maker. Here's a WW2 GI bringback and recent find - 16 bore JP Sauer with 29.5" barrels (75 cm) that full taper-choked 17 and 22 points, about Mod & Imp Mod. Made in 1914, Krupp tubes, 1-1/2" by 2-1/8" by 14-1/4" LOP. Mirror bores and tight as a tick. For those into continental guns she has the large crown stamp and (3) "caveman" stamps.

I’ll do some hunting with her and now I'm all set for Handicap events at the sporting clays club = +5 for a double gun, +5 for external hammers, +3 for a 16 bore. Total 13 added to the score for the Lewis payout. :)

I haven't been able to beat a certain pair of Master and AA class shooters with their competition restocked hammer guns sleeved to 20-gauge (5 + 5 + 5 = 15 added to their scores); might as well get with the program and run for the Lewis money.

Frank,
You are pretty tough to beat without the extra points.

Is there a maker's name on that pad Frank? An early Mershon?

Daryl Corona 10-28-2018 08:30 PM

Very nice Frank. I did'nt tell you but if I had hit that 1.6T lottery I was ready to offer you the job of director of firearms procurement with a blank check budget. See you at the next hdcp event with my 20ga. hammer gun. Might as well join in the fun.:)

Thanks everyone for your comments. Drew it looks like the maker's name might have been on the pad but it was buffed smooth. Daryl, sometimes guns come out of nowhere and then I'll go for many months without seeing anything of interest. I'm looking forward to talking and shooting with you. Missed you at the Northeast at the Rock; NC Mike passed on your regrets..

Very nice. What does she weigh?

Frank Srebro 10-29-2018 07:51 AM

Weight is 6^9 on a digital postal scale. Nice for strings of shooting and heavier loads when appropriate, IME.

Beautiful hammer gun. I just started hunting with a 16 hammer. It took a bit of getting used to, but I really enjoy it. Great fun. Took it out for quail and that was a challenge. But once I learned to coordinate my thumb and trigger finger, it was great. Good luck with it.

Nice Sauer hammer gun. I almost bought one locally last year. I figured it wouldnt hurt to have a 16g hammer to shoot at the events. But I heaitated too long and it was gone.
