Clays with a repro 28Ga. 2-barrel set

I shot a round of clays this morning with a newly aquired repro 28 set PG-DT-BTF 26"IC/MOD and 28" M/F I shot each station a full round with both barrel sets and same ammo AA-7.5# 1300fps . Most station were close and mid range with two stations that had one long shot each. I shoot this corse weekly with my M/F repro 20ga. and score about the same. I added up my scores for each set of barrels.....guese what??? to my serprize both had 33 hits of 50 not the same targets but same number of brakes. hhmmmm I checked the choke measurements with a stan baker bore tool. The 26" set is .004/.014 28" set is .013/.033 I think the full barrel is actually XX-full Normal 28ga. full is .020 and .025 is X-full I may have that tube cut open to say .023 this would be ten thousands over the heavy mod right barrel. I will patern test befor doing anything but would not be serprised if the .033 is too tight and patterns poorly. I know bigger shot say 5# probably will patern poorly with that mutch choke for sure!. Now I will have to know....thanks all Kenny Graft, SXS, ohio....(-:

Kenny,

I checked mine once before and it measured .013" and .034" I shot at a bird in front of a dirt banking and it made about a 12" pattern from 25-30 yds. Let us know what you find out, who would you have do the choke work?

shotgun barrel work...

Mike Orlin ,...413-256-1630 I have not asked him to do any work on the repro's as yet. They have chrome lined barrels and this may be a problem? I will call him today and ask. He did some work on my minty GHE 12 with steel barrels, cut chambers, cones and open one choke from full to mod....it was fast quality work at a fair price!

I didn't know the Repro's had chromed lined bores, but at any rate, Mike can open the chokes on them just like any other barrel.

Kenny, that reinforces what I've said before, "A 28 ga. will do anything a 20 ga. will."

All Reproductions had chrome lined barrels, except for the choke, which was not chromed, in order to make adjusting (opening) chokes easier.
