New member from the South Island of New Zealand

Hi
My Dad who is just turned ninety has passed the Parker ( which his father owned ) onto to me. He has been duck shooting since the age 14 and missed only 2 years while working oversea. He now uses a "plastic fantastic" due to its lightness.
The 1st 3 serial numbers are 103 which I believe would have it manufactured around 1901. It has 32 " barrels and 12g. I and my younger brothers all learnt to shoot with the Parker as teenagers. It has and always will be considered as a working gun and I look forward to the day when my grandsons have the privileged to shoot with it.

Wow, the South Island of New Zealand! Wonderful place in which you live. I have visited and I was impressed with the life style and the beauty. I have a long time friend that now lives in Oamaru and I have an open invite to visit.... BUT I refuse to fly because of the cattle car treatment from the airlines; it is tempting to fly there though. Welcome to our web site, I hope you enjoy it as much as the rest of us!

Hello Richmond and welcome to the forum!

Nice to hear about your family Parker - those are the most special ones.

We had an annual member for a few years from Tasmania by the name of Ron McDonald who hunted brown quail on West Sister Island. He wrote and co-authored articles for our magazine Parker Pages and included pictures. Ron owned five Parkers including a 16 gauge CHE and an assortment of Parker ephemera. He came here to the US for a couple of weeks and while here he visited our previous editor, Austin Hogan, stayed with him for a few days and went ruffed grouse hunting with him in New Hampshire during his stay.

Again, Welcome!

Thanks for your comments ... and as for Oamaru it was my place of birth, pass through it from time to time.

I love the South Island and have spent a lot of time there before and after working in Antarctica. Have always wanted to fly fish for brown trout out of Queenstown, I think it is.
