Headwaters Land Conservancy Fundraiser Aug 26

Time to get out the ol' grouse gun and get ready for the upcoming season!

What better way to get some practice than to come to the Headwaters Land Conservancy's 5th annual HOT SHOTS FOR HEADWATERS Sporting Clays event, Saturday, August 26 at the Lewiston Sportsmen's League. Your $100 entry fee gets you 100 targets, a steak kabob lunch, and a chance to meet and mingle with some of Northern Michigan's finest sportsmen (and women) and conservationists. We've also added a Lewis class scoring system, so everyone has a chance to win.
Register before August 15 and be in the drawing for a flat (10 boxes) of shells.

We almost sold out the event last year. Enter now to ensure your place in one of Northern Michigan's premier events (if I don't say so myself)

The Lewiston course is one of the prettiest in the country, IMHO. I think Kurt Densmore, COB, and Jay Gardner have shot the course. and i think they would agree

It is a nice course, very hilly. Grouse guns you say....interesting....now what gauge to decide on. My definition of a grouse gun is something in a 20 or 28 gauge.

Grouse gun may be a bit of a stretch. I'll either be shooting my 8#3 oz DHE, or 30" K80. Guess they could be grouse guns for the Incredible Hulk. I am aware of a battle-worn Repro 20 gauge which hopes to be ready for the shoot. Presently it is with Brian Dudley, who is working his stock magic on it.

I will be having a discussion with the course setters to ensure that everyone has a good time. Given that this is a fund-raiser, we are not in the business of embarrassing anyone

Rich is right. The course is sited on an old ski hill. Some of the shots out over a large valley are spectacular, particularly when the maple trees are in full color.

Hope to see a bunch of you guys. Probably not many old guns, but there will be a lot of old people like me.

If I showed up with a 28ga hammer gun I bet I'd be the only one there with one:rotf::rotf:

TTT

Last reminder. Hope some of the midwest contingent can make it. Remember, sign up before Aug 15 and you're entered in a drawing for a flat of shells.

Go to Headwatersconservancy.org, or PM me to get entered.

Hope to see you there

John
