and not a double in the car --

Attachment 84672

A couple of pumps in the front seat and the gent in the rear appears to be holding a John M. Browning autoloader. Certainly can't tell if it is an FN Browning or the then brand new Remington Autoloading Shotgun.

Wow look at those setters.

At the very least go afield with setters even if you’ve spurned your classic old doubles.

I wonder what type of auto are we chaseing them chickens with....charlie

The article states the automobile is a new 1905 Rambler. The author and his wife took the train to Minneapolis where on August 16 they met up with Charles Webster, his wife and the new 1905 Rambler. They then drove to Winnipeg. Took a train to Lake Manitoba and then a boat trip to a gypsum mine Webster was an investor in. They then returned to Winnipeg and with the Rambler continued down through the Dakotas to the Webster Ranch near Frederick, SD, on 31 August in time for the 1 September opening. No mention of the guns they used. They scored 39 "Chickens" for the four of them on opening day. Stated the previous year they had limited out by 2 pm with 75.

A fitting name for that car. It's hard not to be nostalgic for those days.

A link to some good pictures of such a mighty 18 HP car --
