Scott, does the letter on that gun make any reference to that stock head fixation?

Dean, i have never got a letter on this gun, the same "bolt head" is on the other side too with the spanner wrench holes timed alike. this was killing me to know if the stock head was cracked and fixed so i took the stock off and found no cracks, also it looks like i was the first one to turn the screws in a 120 years or so. i will have to get a letter soon. this gun makes a fine crow and duck gun, scott

Scott,

That spanner bolt was installed by a professional! It is so much better that the bolts in my stocks! :)

We have had these discussions on pinned or fixated stock heads before and if my memory serves I believe there is some vague mention in the records of a few guns about doing this to new guns. Does anyone have a letter that mentions this?

I don't have any documentation to support this statement but I have seen at least three guns with this same treatment. It is my belief that it's factory done. Maybe Chuck will tell us if he has seen any mention of this in his research.

Some German SxS's come from the factory with similar spanner bolts in the head of the stock.

i think mark is correct, i have also seen this type of support on german or prussian guns the fit looks first class. if it was done by parker i have never seen it before, maybe on special request? perhaps bruce day will know.

If it was done by Parker Bros. it would have only been done by special request as this feature is certainly not standard on any guage or grade.
