Pistol to straight grip?

In your collective expert opinions...can I have this already rough out machined 20 bore Parker stock filed down into a straight stock? Like in the Midway video?
Fore end too? Got to finish this project this year!

I'm thinking yes, but you may need to make some change to the bottom of the stock from the toe to where the pistol grip is removed to make the geometry work. If you do, please post before during and after pics. Maybe even incorporate it into an article for the Parker Pages?

That is a great piece of wood. You should not have an issue going to straight grip on that. Semi-inletted stocks are typically duplicated fat enough to give you the extra wood to work with in order to get the proper lines out of it.

The biggest issue with semi-inlets is getting the dimensions you want for drop. If it is not duplicated large enough to give you a large range of drops, you end up limited to whatever it ends up at after fitting the action.

I knew Brian would reply. He knows his “stuff”.
