SBT stock replacement
Hello, I have a Parker Single Barrel Trap gun that needs a stock and a front bead. I would prefer an original Parker stock but would consider an aftermarket stock. An original ivory bead would be nice, but a white plastic bead would work. I am not finding much online. Can someone suggest a source for these?
Thanks! |
In many years of searching, I have not found an original Parker single trap buttstock for sale. Take a good look at the one on your gun before you decide to trash it.

A lot of single barrel traps have been heavily altered. So it is understandable that you have one that you are wanting to put right. And because of that, finding unaltered orphaned stocks can be difficult. But anything is out there.
Remember that all these guns are hand made and very greatly from gun to gun. A stock from one gun will not always work on any other gun. Usually they do not without a good amount of messing around. Right now I am finishing up a Parker SC for a member of this board where I am replacing the original hacked up stock with a good replacement from another gun. He bought the replacement stock right off the ‘for sale’ section of this board by the way. The replacement stock needed a lot of work on my part to make it work on his gun and be properly fitted. Of course, if it is in your budget, a new stock made for the gun is the absolute best way to go. |

What Brian said is true, finding a Parker made replacement is possible but may need a lot of work to make it fit or it may not be possible to fit it at all. I've tried many Parker SBT stocks and did find one that was possible to be fitted but it's not perfect. I've also found other stocks but the top of the stock head has a sharp radius and usually that has chipped off needing repair. The stock on my gun had about 1" cut off but was reattached. Only the width of the saw blade was missing. The grain was off just a little bit.

That looks very nice. Mine is pretty ugly. The last 3 or 4 inches are a different piece of wood and a comb was added. I'll try to get a picture up. I may strip it and see what there is to work with.
What would someone expect to pay for a custom stock in the same grade as the factory wood? |

Here are a couple pictures of the stock. There are also some holes drilled in the forearm. The forearm was also sanded down about 1/8" in that area. I wonder what they were for? Perhaps some sort of hand rest?

I would be curious to see the full checkering pattern on that forend. I have seen much variation in the forend patterns on SBT guns. Every one seems to be a little different.

Interesting embellishment on the 1930 gun. I have no guess as to what drill holes would be for????
Good luck with your project. |
