Damascus Barrel Patch?

I run across this on Gun Broker, item: 616818381 Looks like someone welded rings/bands around the barrels. Look at the 5th picture. I'm not interested in the gun, which has seen better days to say the least. Could it be some type of repair? Would that really work? Just curious as I have never seen that before.

Thanks,

Jay

Southwest Shooter's Supply here in Phoenix carries some high-end stuff

They have 5 Parkers

The top rib extension has also been welded.

I get by I-17 and Northern on occasion and may need to check out this $1500 gem

I wonder how someone would explain that barrel accoutrement...with a straight face and then say the price of the gun is $1500.

It is a GH though...

What i think has happened here is the barrels were cut down short. Then somone removed the ribs and lengthened the tubes with a slip joint collar. Then re-installed the ribs. The rib extension is from another gun and is epoxied or brazed on or something due to the slippy looking joint.
Quite an ingenious attempt at lengthening cut barrels. I will start the bidding at $50 for the parts.

Did you need a set of screws Brian? I didn't see one that didn't look like they used a cold chisel on it.

Interesting repair but no thanks

Interesting side engraving. Look where the "Parker Bros" is, high on the receiver side. That gun has sure seen some use!

It is an early style GH. When you find them they are usually in bad shape
