referances for assembly and disassembly and troubleshooting
 

I have a Parker VH made in 1905 that has been butchered. I know it will never be worth anything as the barrels have been cut to 24 inches from 30, the barrels won't close unless you hold the lever to the right, The barrels won't come off the receiver unless you pull the bottom plate and manipulate the latch and the right hammer iocks back, sometimes. Then there a several stock problems. I can handle the stock but I have never been inside a Parker before and can't locate good assembly/disassembly instructions. I have the NRA guides and it has a schematic and general instructions. I'm looking for something more detailed. I'm more than willing to buy a book or whatever if anyone can make a reccomendation I would appreciate it.

There is no book on Parker service, parts or schematics. At least until I write one... which I intend to do at some point in my lifetime. But by the time I get around to it, maybe no one will care anymore.

I understand. I have written six books and self published them as well as nearly 100 gunsmithing articles, mostly for American Gunsmith but I have also done some for Shooting times and Brownells newsletters as well as the old Shotgun News. I retain the rights to most of them and I keep putting off doing a book of projects for the home and small shop gunsmith. I'm 70 now and if I'm gonna I better start working on it. The problem is I enjoy writing fiction more than putting together a gunsmithing article let alone a whole books worth.

There will always be a strong following of the Parker shotgun and an intense interest in their design and mechanics.

I'm sure some will remember on the old forum we had instructions on how to take apart a parker. I had done one, but it was before the current forum. I have a book that describes taking one apart. I will try to photo the pages and post them.

Thanks for the offers to help. Fortunately I have been in a lot of shotguns over the years and I've managed to disassemble, repair and reassemble my Parker. Thank you all so much
