New to this forum. I have the above which was my grandfathers. I just had the stock (in 3 pieces restored). It is a wall hanger now but I would like to keep it oiled. How do you break down the barrel using the wood hand rest? Thx for all replies

the forend is simply a snap on - pull it away from the barrels by the front tip

once that is off- the top lever goes to the right (left hand on the barrels) and the barrels swing down - lift up on the back of the barrels and they will lift clear

be stingy with the oil and keep it off the wood

Thx for the reply. I thought that was how it breaks down, but I was afraid to use to much strength to pull down, maybe rusted tight?
I hang it on the advise of the gunsmith, also there is a small dent on one barrel.
No need to chance it.

You're from Hamilton, but what state?

Incidentally, you need to be careful in 'pulling' the forend off. You can break the end off of it if you don't get far enough under the tip - especially if rust or crud is holding it on.

Ohio - will so

We lived in Minford, Ohio for 7 years and enjoyed some of the best grouse, woodcock and duck hunting in those years. Ohio, especially southern Ohio is a great place to raise a family. Strong family and religious values in that part of the state, and terrific hunting!.
