Horsley Recapper- Kelsey Info.
2 Attachment(s)
I hope someone can give me some historic info regarding my Horsley nickel plated recapper that is talked about and shown in the Parker Story book two. How long did Bridgeport make these items? Can't seem to come up with the answer. I read that they were offered by Parker in the latter part of the 1800's. Also, the Parker Bros. Kelsey Capper only installs primers... correct?

In the 1882 catalog the horsley capper is shown as No. 1181 on the page titled recappers.
The Kelsey capper No, 16 is on the page titled Cappers. You are correct that the Kelsey only installs the caps. |
The No. 1183 is shown in the 1882 BGI catalog, but is not in the 1901 catalog. BGI catalogs are few and far between. I have the 4 Cornell reprints and an original 1904.

The old BGI factory building is about a mile from my house.

The capper is for use with brass shells.

In the 1878 parker catalog the Horsley capper is listed as #19 for paper shells. It cost $2.50.
