Curious and Learning

I noticed this gun listed on GI that has a round knob pistol grip stock. I assume this is a modification to the original but I have learned to never say never. So, is it original? I have never seen one before.

Drop points are wrong - It is not an original Repro stock.

Gary,

I don't know. However, the drop points look too full or round compared to other repro DHEs. It may be the way the picture was taken. The gun looks nice with the round knob.

I'm leaning with Dean's opinion that this Repro has been restocked.

However, and as we say "never say never", you may recall our previous discussions here in the forum regarding the upgrading that Greene's Guns had done to several Repros that included changing pistol-gripped guns to half pistol grip (round knob). These Greene-altered Repros also included alterations that the linked gun doesn't have -- such as bone charcoal case coloring, removing the Parker Reproduction and Made in Japan stampings, rebluing the barrels, changing splinter forend shape to Meriden-like, adding mullered borders to the checkering, changing the game scene engravings, hand chasing the scroll engraving and applying an oil finish.

FYI, the wrist of this stock has been broken through and repaired.

Lightweight description unless more is given with a phone call.

While I agree it does not appear to be a stock supplied original to a Parker Reproduction, I think the drop points are very ‘English’ in style, and rather than say they are wrong, it might be better to say they differ from ‘original Repro’
(That seems like a contradiction in terms)
Honestly, I like the grip treatment very much, and while Dean won’t give the stock maker credit for his drop points, I would certainly give him credit for an otherwise nice job.

I think it was Russ Jackson who had an original Parker DHE (I believe) 28 ga. with those "English" drop points and that gun letters that way. I have never seen or heard of another Parker with those drop points and I suspect a Repro featuring those "English" drop points and made in Kodensha, Japan would certainly have been a 1 of 1 and only made by pre-paid special order.

How's that Edgar?

Huh?
did you mean Kodensha?

No, Kenosha. You know, the cheese place.
