Make your Own Consecutive Set
Has anyone noticed this yet?
I am tempted, but already spent my gun budget through 2023 2 - Grade 3, 10 Gauge lifters. I would love to see someone put these two old girls back together again: Serial#17147 https://auctions.morphyauctions.com/...LOT487029.aspx Serial# 17148 https://www.gunbroker.com/item/861810468 Someone make it happen. I have a grade 2 12 gauge not too far off from these with 32" barrels #17633. Nevermind that though... Let me know the good news and I look forward to reading your article in Parker Pages :) |
That would be pretty exciting!

I guess together again is probably not the best way to describe it, but it would be nice nonetheless...
|
That would be very cool. Thanks for pointing this out.

The one on Gunbroker looks like it has the Parker made laminated steel. Right pattern and P stamp.

The guy on Gunbroker is a bit off base in my opinion , but what do I know ! I’ve been asked quite a few times if our families last name before we left the old country was Thompsonstein :rotf:

I agree Craig that one on GunBroker has been sitting at $6000 for quite awhile. However, it is in nice shape and I think those Laminated barrels are a plus. Before all of this recent craziness I thought about driving up to the gun store, which is probably an hour and a half at most from me. I think at $5000 it is worth considering at $4500 I might actually "need" it. It is just is such nice shape. The trigger guard and lifter button still have bluing on them!
Then maybe you save a little on the one at Morphys, and that has the plus of 32" barrels. That one is nice as well. These are nice Parkers for sure and $7-8k might get you one heck of a set. I can already imagine how amazing they would look in a 2 gun takedown case :) That would be the set you show up with duck or goose hunting. |
I would love to have a consecutive set of lifters, but you won't get it here. The only 17148 on the gunbroker ad is the description. The gun and all its parts are #17142. Better luck next time.

Even if the numbers were consecutive, with two entirely different barrel steels they would not comprise a “set” in the true sense of the word as it applies to guns. It would be merely a couple of consecutively numbered Parkers.
I love the GB one. What great condition and what wonderful Parker-made Laminated barrels!! . |
Sorry I missed that! I agree Dean that one on GunBroker is just beautiful!
