Your thoughts on this Parker
 

I am looking at a Parker and would appreciate thoughts on it.
This Parker records show it to be a DHE 32” 20 gauge. No mention in the records of the beavertail, no safety, single trigger or twin ivory beads.
Barrels are currently 26”.
Clearly the beaver tail is correct as the barrels have the loop as well as the through bolt hardware on the forend is installed.
I will measure the notes and chokes today I am told it’s choked skeet.
The grip cap is different but I believe I have seen this style cap before. Not sure it was on a Parker.
Barrels have 2 Remington repair codes.
Thoughts on wood? I will take better pictures today.
Can anyone ID the trigger?

Phil the grip cap is not original, as you can see wood overlapping the cap and no I have never seen that cap on a original Parker even with Remington date codes. The barrels also concern me, they look like the maybe cut. Can't see enough of the trigger to tell

The barrels do not look cut to me. I assume the barrels are numbered correctly to the gun ? Does the stamping of the ser # look right on the 26" barrels ? Also is it possible this was a 2 barrel set, the loop wouldn't have a #1 or a #2 stamped on it possibly ? A lot going on with this one that might take a letter to explain and then you still may not have the answers.

The Trigger is a Miller. It is the later style Miller with the rocker selector.

The grip cap is a Remington Cap. Which MAY suggest that it was restocked at Remington.
I have seen this same style cap on other verified remington era restocks. This would have been a restock during the Remington service era, after production stopped on the guns.

Phil - that’s definitely a Remington Ilion restock - the drop points are a dead giveaway.
It looks to have a Miller SST, a Remington era bead and the wood is American black walnut, not Circassian walnut as Parker Bros. would have done.

That all coupled with cyanide case colors kind of supports that it is likely a total Remington re-do.
Incidentally, the forend checkering pattern is that of a GH.

I would also lift a d turn the trigger guard and look for a tell-tale “LDG” stamp in the channel in the wood.

The trigger appears to be the later style Miller. The grip cap is a Remington cap with the words Remington ground off each side.

The length of the chokes would be crucial information for me.

Thanks for the information. So far I believe or know the following.

* The information in the SN book is the same as the Stock order book which is the only records available.
* The grip cap is Remington. Thanks to Dave I expanded the picture and can clearly make out Part of an R and N.
*Single trigger is a late model Miller ( not sure of when this model came out.
* There are 2 Remington repair codes. One is 1940 the other 1948.
* Appears to be a a Remington restock with black walnut. Forend has GH not DH pattern.
* As far a Beavertail forend the barrel has a loop and the forend has the correct metal bolt.
* Case color points to metal being redone. Remington or Delgrego.

My next move is to weigh the barrels with the forend. Measure the bores and choke and chambers.

I would appreciate feedback on how these mods effect value. I am quit curtain the barrels have been cut, but will know later today. The gun overall is very nice.
