Interesting hammer gun

GB, http://www.gunbroker.com/item/618322210, interesting gun. I have no financial interest in it. Also think it is somewhat overpriced. The interesting thing is that it appears to combine Grade 2 sideplates and hammers, with Grade 1 frame, barrels, forend, and stock. Yet the seller says all numbers match. Could it be a custom engraving job? If so, why limit it to only the sideplates and hammers? If it were one of the square frame bolsters sent back for cracking and frame replacement, and they replaced the cracked Grade 2 frame with a Grade 1 frame, it wouldnt have the Grade 1 matching barrels, forend and stock. Who knows. A letter might shed some light, but I'm not that interested. Other thoughts?

That is a grade 1. There is also a grade 1 check hook lifter an Gunauction.com for sale by Hanson & Hanson in CT. same set up

The subject gun on Gunbroker has been on there for a LONG time. Not sure why. The gun has some condition and the price is not terribly out of whack, i think.

The lock "engraving" is actual roll stamping. Grade ones had this for a short time as Parker was playing with the use of it. It did not last terribly long.

I learn something every day. Never seen that roll stamped sideplate before, but the GunAuction listing is identical, if in much poorer shape. Thanks for the input.

Nice gun, a bit close to the high end of pricing. Gauge? Is the seller sure it is a 12?

"very nice 12ga Parker Bros Lifter Hammer Gun, 0 grade, #2 Frame, 30" Damascus twist steel barrels, drop at comb 2", heel 3", lop 14 3/8" front trigger, 13 1/2" rear trigger, weight 8 1/2 lbs. #s match, appears to be all original."

Rarely does a GB description give you all that, just missing wall thickness and choke constriction to be a full set

That is a very nice Parker. Every time I have looked at that listing for the past couple of years (or more) I have been very tempted to make an offer.

I have to agree with Dean and others; I think it's a very nice gun. My only complaint would be the corn cob checkering. If that was a one frame, it would be at home in my gun room.

I kinda like Grade-1 "corn cob" checkering. :corn:

Why does it need to go to an FFL? Obviously an antique?
