Parker 10 ga.

Today I was at a local gun club shooting 5 stand with my VHE and was approached by another shooter who started asking questons about Parker shotguns. It seems that his father left this gun that had orginaly belonged to his Uncle and he was wanting to find out what it was all about. I told him about the forum, but it seems that he cannot use a computer. He gave me the gun and asked me to find out what I can. I was doing pretty well until I found the number 110 or 11 0 on the end of the barrel lug. It is a D grade 10 ga. hamerless with 32 in Damascus barrels. The S/N is 100110. It is a #3 frame which is on the side of the lug. On the water table there is a 4 over D, a C and a barrel weight of 6-4. Out to the far right is the number 3. The serial numbers all match. The gun is in very good shape, but has had a break in the stock that has not been well fixed. I need help in understanding what the 110 or 11 0 on the end of the lug. I have read about 11 ga. guns and was wondering if this is one of them. Any help that you can give will be helpful. Of interest, he has the powder and shot tool, the wad cutter, the hang tag and he thinks the orginal box. He also has some brass Remington 10 ga shells the he feels were shot in the gun. Also, he has no interest in selling this gun. Thanks, Berk

Sounds like a nice gun and a fine family heirloom. Assuming the barrels check out, I would get the stock fixed, get some RST shells and shoot it.

Thanks guys. The stock is shootable. I have recommended that he look into RST shells. I own 7 Parkers and I don't believe that I have seen the last three digets of the S/N on the end of the lug on any of them. Berk

The numbers are there on many guns. A grade 3 gun with a #3 frame is a wonderful gun and would be of interest to many collectors, regardless of a cracked stock.

Thanks Bill. Was it common for a 1900 10ga. to have a 3 inch chamber? Berk

Berk ,My D Grade 10 Ga. on a #3 Frame is a Hammerless made in 1902 ,it has 3" Chambers ,I ordered a letter on it hoping there would be a mention of the Chamber length but no such luck ! You might suggest to your Friend to order a letter on the gun to find out the particulars ,also maybe suggest he join the PGCA and get his Membership and save over half the cost of the letter by being a Member !
