What gauge?
Could anyone tell me any info about a parker shotgun with a serial number 8847? Do not have the barrel. All I have is the stock and trigger gaurd. Thanx
|
The stock and guard you have, shown in another post you started, is not for a Parker. It is for an LC smith. You may want to inquire with the smith group on that.
|
Parker Brothers serial number 8847 is a STRAIGHT GRIP 12 gauge underlifter with 32” twist steel barrels and your stock and triggerguard is NOT FOR THAT TYPE OF PARKER BROTHERS SHOTGUN. I would tend to agree with Mr. Dudley’s opinion as to the type of shotgun your pictured stock is for. End of story
|
Thank you!!! Finally...
[Edited by John Dunkle - let's clean up the act, OK?] |
Well based on your post and subsequent photos, it seemed inconsequential what 8847 was as those photos were not of a Meridan Ct Parker Bros. Shotgun of any confufuration
|
Maybe, but I know CHP on the trigger gaurd is Charles Parker. End of story
|
It could be Christopher Harold Pendleton also or pardon me but have patience
|
Lol....Right
|
Have a good evening Brice
|
Charles Parker’s (founder of the Charles Parker Co of Meriden, CT) middle initial was NOT ‘H’.
In fact, he did not have a known middle name or initial. |
:corn::corn::corn:
|
The obvious often times eludes us, California Highway Patrol.
|
Are you sure those initials aren't C.E.P? You may have found parts to the long rumored collaboration between Charles Eddy Parker and Lyman Cornelius Smith to form a new gun company called Parker and Smith Brothers! This could be the find of the century.:corn: Brice will probably start a new thread looking for the action and barrels.
|
How do you know it wasn't an H?

Did he have a middle name ? There isnt one on his grave .
|
OK, I'll try and be serious. What do you really believe you have? Do you really believe the trigger guard and stock were made by Parker Brothers and why do you think the CHP stands for Charles Parker the founder of Parker Brothers? What is so important to you that you need to know what the Parker Brothers shotgun S/N 8847 was? Are you trying to tie that guns configuration to your trigger guard and stock?
We were really trying to give you the facts but you just don't believe us. Give us your facts based on your evidence, not just suspicions. |

OK, I'll state the obvious.
First: Just because you believe you have something doesn't mean that, in reality, is what you have. Example: A Mossberg SN: 202938 Doesn't get me an A Grade Parker. Second: There are historians of all things Parker on this board with great depth of knowledge and experience. They are more than willing to share relatively freely, where it would cost you a fair amount of money to purchase and time to research. Calling them assholes, when you are being an asshole, will not only alienate them, but have you removed from the board for vulgar language. I await my punishment Mr. Dunkle. |
NO profanity is allowed and NO flaming is allowed.

I have an idea... how about you tell us how you came to believe that this LC smith stock and guard have anything to do with Charles Parker. Sound fair...? |
For those of us that witnessed, participated in, this unfortunate exchange,I want to apologize for sticking my nose in.
It is exactly this type of exchange that drove me to the refuge of the Parker site. |
Some things cannot be fixed.

I was entertained. A fun read over coffee.
It doesn't compare with the time [a well known gun forum kook] went on the old Lefever forum and insisted his porch-whittled Ithaca Nitro Special was in fact a "$1,000 Grade Syracuse Lefever," however. As I recall, the story included engraving by at least two famous engravers, one of whom was dead by the time the gun was made, and the other never worked for Lefever. There was also some classic "old family legend" that went along with it. All good fun! He made 8 furious posts and then never returned. Delusion can be a powerful opiate. NDG |
Good old pinecreek dave.
And that buffed out LC Smith that was a rare and original “chrome breech model” |
Ah yes, I believe they were referred to as "the real chrome breech" guns. So rare that even the guys on the LCSCA forum had to be "schooled" about them.

He got going about his close friendship with George Bird Evans on a bird dog board :rotf: So much BS he drove the Old Hemlock guys on the board apoplectic
Always figured he just had a need for attention no matter how he got it He asked for description of my truck and the plate so he could watch for it and hunt with me. |
Pine Creek Dave is one of those who is to be lifted to a higher level under the Biden administration, never to be victimized by renegade police.

Respecting forum rules. NDG |
What "Bird Dog Forum" did Dave use to promote his friendship with George Bird Evans?
|
Can we PLEASE stop slamming Dave?!? Flaming is against PGCA Forum rules and should not be tolerated.
Dave has friends among our membership who hunt with him every season, sometimes often. If you don't like a person's views, opinions and stories, don't watch, read or listen to them. . |

This Colt shotgun was made and engraved just for me, knowing that I would be born 60 years later .
|
Bruce, I hope you own that Colt. Wow.
|
By the way, no flaming, but I would like to know on what "Bird Dog Forum" Dave mentioned his relationship with GBE. Fair question. I have never flamed Dave on his favorite forums and find his posts very entertaining.

Are we talking about the guy who goes by "Beans"?
