Scott
I have been using
Cut down 3.5 “ Remington shells
Reddot powder
Chedite primers
I have some 10 gauge wads but are using the gas seal and a 12 gauge wad for the target loads as we discussed at major Waldron on New Year’s Day
I have some unique and blue dot powder as well

Forgot
Using a new mec single stage
But I have equipment to do roll crimp as well
Also some 2-5/8 RST shells

Bob, Send Jeff Sweeter a line. He might be able to help you out.

1 1/2 oz shot, fed 209a primer but any primer not as hot is ok, mec powder bushing 40# using blue dot powder, you might need a thin .070 16 or 20 ga. nitro card at bottom of the sp10 wad. over shot card and roll crimp. i use 6 shot found my 10s shoot this the best for patterns. This is what i shoot out of my 10s for turkey, but the are lots of loads on the 10 ga spread sheet here on the PGCA reloader page.

I normally load 1 1/4 oz of shot and Unique powder in my 10g loads. They are not hot and will break any clay out there. They will probably work well on turkey too with the larger shot instead of 7 1/2 or 8.

22.5g Unique, SP10 wad with a 16g 1/2" fiber wad in the cup topped with 1 1/4 ozs shot.

A lot depends on what you have for components and of how your gun patterns. Back when your EH was made the heaviest commercial load available was 1 1/4 ounce. If they killed turkey's back then with a light load they will work today. The attached pattern was shot at 40 yards with 1 1/8 ounce of 6. I would up it for Turkey but it would probably work fine. If you reload you have lots of choices.

yes you are wright, but not all birds are shot at 40 yds, I did test all loads 1 1/4 oz to 1 3/4 oz with 4s to 6s and i found in MY guns shot with highest %,1 1/2 oz 6s. i have yet to shoot beyond 35 yds ,yet, but i have been with guys that shot out to 60 yds on a departing bird (got it too) thats why i like higher pellet count. all my grandson's killed there birds with a 20 ga with 1oz 6s, Do you need 1 1/2 oz 10 ga to kill a bird ? Nope you dont, but it sure makes me feel better about using it. Remember it's not the hits in a 30 in circle its the hits in a 10 in circle.
