RST Paper Trap Shells
Are the RST 2 3/4 inch paper shells the same as Federal paper shells? Anybody reload the RST paper shells?

I don't have a fired RST to compare volume with the Federal.
Attachment 85591 Attachment 85592 To me, the Federal looks like a much better hull. I prefer the aroma of the Federals. |
The internal dimensions of the RST (Cheddite) Paper shells are the same as their plastic hulls.

I THICK they are a straight walled hull, and then can be reloaded like a Federal hull. If you're reloading at mild pressures it shouldn't make any difference. JMHO

They are a straight walled hull, but the base height is very likely not the same as the Federal, so you can't just switch back and forth with the same wad.

Maybe someone who has both can measure. With the 10ga I treat all the hulls, Fed, Win, and Rem all the same. There is slight differences but not enough to make crimping a problem. A little hole in the center on some.

I've got a good recipe using the Federal paper hulls. They are so easy to reload. I ordered 10 flats of RST Paper Trap shells for registered handicap and was just wondering if they would be interchangeable. Probably doesn't matter because I've got plenty of the Federal's.

John I'm with you on reloading the Federal paper hulls. I do not reload them very often but I sure do enjoy it, seems like the end result is always perfect and they are a joy to shoot. While I cannot comment on the comparison you are seeking between the two hulls I can tell you this, the RST trap loads you referenced will kill turkeys dead, really dead. Scientifically tested in a Parker of course. :)

Just load some up and see if everything fits. If you're now loading at mild pressures I'm sure you can't hurt anything.

I would like to buy some Federal paper 1oz shells but cannot seem to find a source. Can anybody suggest a source?
