Managing the gene pool

Been trying to outwit this guy for three years! He is now at least 6 1/2, and will have no more influence on our herd! Took him yesterday evening, he was hard on the trail of a doe. Heart liver shot at 16 yards (quartering away from me), and he took about 10 steps and gave up.. arrow flew 70 yards past the deer!

At least he died doing what he lived to do. How many of us wish that?! I view this as a real trophy.

Thanks, and I agree. I target, and hunt mature management deer just as hard as trophies. They are indeed, just as hard to kill.
