More Parker Parts being manufactured.
2 Attachment(s)
I have been working with Joe Breda on the manufacture of key Parker parts for new manufacture. When I say key parts, we got together on this and I advised on what would be useful to manufacture from a gunsmithing/service standpoint. And I provided him with all the samples to model and manufacture samples of the parts.
As of right now we have manufactured and I have ordered in some quantities: Oversized roll joints for extractor guns. Made in different diameters (.440, .445 and .450). (Original used joints run .435 to .440). Manufacturing is so close to originals that they can be fitted into a frame with little additional work. This allows for refitting of the barrels to the frame with NO welding on the hook. They would need case hardening after fitting. Attachment 42687 Parker locking bolts for hammerless guns. This bolt is made with no taper in it. So it is a direct replacement for 1905 - 1910 guns with first style wear plate in it. Or the angle can be put into it for fitting to 1888 - 1905 guns. Or a partial angle can be put into it for 1888-1905 guns that have been fitted with the post 1910 stepped wear plate. Trip catch is machined into the bolt and hole for screw is machined and tapped. Bolts for Top action and Lifter hammer guns will be available soon. Attachment 42688 Other parts in the works include oversized forend latch toggle keys as well as external hammers for lifter and top action guns. |
Good work Brian.

Brian: A question on the over-sized roll pins. Will it be less costly to repair a gun by welding the hook or replacing the pin? Or is it just a matter of doing the repair the same way it was done in Meriden? Thanks Craig
|
Well, cost of a new joint is $125.00 for the part. So, figure that compared to cost to weld the hook. Maybe less, maybe more. But it is less of a hasstle.

What would be the approximate labor cost to install and fit the new roll? Can the size be determined before installation or is it neccesary to install one and try it for fit? Do you remove the new roll and harden it separately?
|
Thanks Brian it all sounds very exciting. If the new pin can be done for a total of $350. or less it would be the way to go in my opinion. Keep us updated. Thanks Craig

Labor cost to fit barrels would depend on the rate of the shop doing the work and the amount of time it takes to fit up a given gun.
In most cases the .540 or .545 roll would tighten up most guns. The rolls can really be made in any diameter required. But those three above mentioned diameters are the ones that I have on order. The rolls could be case hardened with the frame of it is being done, or they can be hardened separately. My intention was to harden them along with other frames that I may have to have done. The purpose of this post is to just let people know what Breda is set up to make and what is in the works. If one has a need for the parts, so be it. If not, so be it. |
Brian
This is fantastic!! Thank You David |

Here is the most recent part that i have had made in some quantity by Joe Breda and his operation.
Forend toggle keys. Attachment 44708 These prove very useful when fitting up new forend itons or when when having to fit new/replacement barrels to a gun and refitting the forend to them. These keys are made with additional material on the lug bearing surface as to always have enough material to work with regardless of what gun it is being installed into. If i need one, i always go into the used ones that i have, and if there isnt one big enough, these new ones fit the bill perfectly. |
