Remington Peters 28g hulls
I was given a big bunch of these by a patient of mine (500 or so). My 12 year old wants to shoot and has a Savage Stevens 555 24" 28 g on the way and I want to bring her to Mikes to shoot clays, but can't find a low recoil load on line for 28g for this hull. Looks to be a separate plastic base wad not one piece compression formed. I can toss them if needed. ANY help at all appreciated.

Andy,
Check out the Alliant website below. I use and prefer 20/28 but there are a number of loads you could use. If the 3/4oz loads are too much for your child just reduce the payload to 5/8oz. https://www.alliantpowder.com/reload...eid=3&gauge=28 |

Andy,
Can you post a photo of exactly which hull you have? Best to ID it from that to make sure which loading you should try. |
I'll try to post a photo tonight with the hull cut away or off. Thank you.

All my 28 loads are pushed with Unique or Universal .
Not saying they're necissarily lite but they roll targets and quail up well enough . I use old AA hulls new HS AA hulls and Remington STS hulls . |

These are the hulls I was given. Looks like a black plastic base wad and the tube does look tapered. If I can't use them I can't use them.

Andy,
Being a ribbed hull, those are the "SP" bodies, not "STS". Just follow the published recipes for the "SP" hull. There is not much internal volume difference, but I recommend strictly following the recipe for whichever propellant/primer/wad combination you are going to use. |
