South Dakota

Just a note to people going to South Dakota. The pheasant hunting west of the reservoir was so so, but there were sharp tailed grouse everywhere. We saw groups of all sizes from singles flying by to groups of 50 or more. It seemed like every tree had grouse perched in them. Some of the larger cottonwoods had several, like 30 or more in them. We had the opportunity to shoot our limit daily. However, it was very cold and 6-10 inches of snow depending on where we were. That's all gone for now and it looks like the hunting will be good. The sharp tails are a mild flavored meat and great as appetizers cooked with some seasoning and olive oil.
Good luck and enjoy yourselves!
