125 years old and still taking them

Yesterday evening after work I managed to have just enough daylight left to get in for an hour with this ol'e thing  Flushed two, dropped one. (felt it was only right to let one go to breed next spring) .. Beautiful grey phase male.

It's been on here a couple times. It's a 1893 GH 16 0 frame with 28" damascus barrels. Picked it up a few years ago, was well used but looked after. Original PG stock wasn't in too bad of shape I guess, varnished probably a couple times of the years, wear and tear from 100+years of hunting and shooting. Barrels were gone pretty much white and do have pitting in bores although still shot worthy. Stock dimensions were way off for my preference. I decided I wanted a Restoration, It's going to do me the rest of my life and wanted it to be "made for me" so I decided originality wasn't a big issue to stick with. Along the way I picked up an extra set of 20 gauge steel 26" barrels, 2 3/4"chambers which just so happened to be a drop in fit (of which it's wearing in this pic). Chris Dawe did a restock on the little gem with straight English style for me (which I prefer for looks but also handling), we decided to keep the original forend as it wasn't in too bad of shape, and just do a refinish on that. He refinished my Damascus barrels as well, and had the receiver and other parts sent to Oskar Kob to be re-coloured.

Not a Parker, but still a worthy companion

Another late day grouse yesterday evening. We just got back from a short weekend trip over the highway visiting family. We pull into the yard, beautiful evening and a sunset quickly approaching within the half hour. It looked too perfect for me not to take a quick stroll down the back few acres. Grabbed my Lefever 16 and a couple kent game bore 2 1/2's and headed down. I reach a small area filled with birch and low willow/alder, picking up this guys fresh track in some light spotty snow right away. 10 mins later searching, he flushes out front and to the left, 1.5 seconds after that he falls back to earth. This pic is done black and white, but he was a gorgeous bronze coloured fan and all throughout. I'm liking these lucky quick hunts late in the evening close to home.

Tell us about your Lefever 16. I have a nice little G 16 with 28" damascus. Choked a little tight for grouse at F/F, but taken a few with it.

This one is also a G grade, sporting 28" Damascus barrels choked relatively tight as well. Beautiful original condition from what I know and can tell, nice dark patterns on barrels (this picture don't do the damascus justice), tons of case colours left, great checkering and finish... it was well looked after! Also built on a small XX 20 gauge frame, super light but great pointing and swinging.
