Newbie Question

Gentlemen
I have a AE Grade Fox 4 weight barrels. Someway after cleaning from a trip to the skeet range I tried to put it back together and the forearm wont go back on...the two little bars that are part of the ejectors that run underside of the barrel hit the plate on the forearm...I tried pulling the lever but they still hit not allowing the forearm to snap into place.....What am I doing wrong ??? Thanks in advance for a solution.

Have you tried dropping the barrels to cock the gun?

A guess on my part, it sounds as though the ejectors are not cocked. I have seen this on many ejector guns, somehow they are in the fired position and fore arm will not lock on until the hammers in the fore arm are cocked. Do not know how to do on a fox but on other sxs and o/u a piece of wood or other non- marring material is used to push into the cocked position

Thanks guys. I’m not sure how but I got it on. On the forearm at the bottom of the plate two knotches stick out that have springs on the shaft. I suppose they sit on top of the extractor rods. I had to push down pretty hard to compress the springs on the rods inside the forearm. Dropping the barrels wouldn’t cock it without the forearm on. But it seems to be working ok. Thanks again

If you pull the triggers and take apart the gun without cocking it first you're gonna have the same problem again with any ejector gun. The hammers have to be cocked first. To do that the gun is opened and closed [ cocking the hammers ], then the forearm taken off and barrels removed.

Thanks Paul.....I really need to find a blueprint that tells how all the parts work together on a hammerless double.....I looked but could not find...Thanks anyway
