Two barrel set
Does anyone know if a two barrel set consisting of both barrels 26", one choked Sk/Sk and the other IC/Mod is unusual ? Thanks.

Certainly wouldn’t constitute an anomaly b/c both barrels could have easily been acquired from Regeant, upon request. You might consider asking the seller for close up and, clear photos of the barrel flats in order to study all inscriptions. I would also look at photos of the case to see if there are any filler blocks in place for both barrel sets b/c I highly doubt 2-barrel cases were made to accommodate two twenty-six inch barrels in lieu of the most commonly encountered two-barrel set comprised of a twenty-six and a twenty-eight inch set of barrels.
I have to say, I find it fascinating 26” barrels are considered sub-par to 28” barrels but, that’s just my viewpoint. It's entirely conceivable the person who originally ordered the gun preferred 26" barrels. Good luck *Edited to add: typically, a two barrel set w/a set of 28" barrels will include a small filler block for the 26" barrel so they don't slide side-to-side while stored in the case. (It occurred to me you may not be aware of that) |
Thanks Scott. Seller says Sk/SK but probably means Q1/Q2. I will call him.

No problem, Steve..can't speak to the SK/SK choke designation but if I'm not mistaken, there were some Repro's marked as such prior to the Quail1/Quail2 markings which were choke designations coined by Regeant as a sales tactic to appeal specifically to the upland hunter. Perhaps someone else will chime in to shed some light.

Some buyers just ordered the wrong options because they just didn't know what would be popular years later. They're still great guns no matter what options were selected. As MD*GSP knows, even the odd 12 gauge meets all modern day wishes. I was able to purchase one such gun from him a while back.

Was 26" the go-to barrel length for upland hunting in 1984?
Also, how were the PR's received amongst the Parker community at the time, Bill? |
