Short 10 Bismuth load
1 Attachment(s)
Got this back form Tom Armburst if anyone is interested. Not as fast or as much pressure as I had hope for, but, Unigue is pretty predictable so I can easily increase the powder charge and get what I need . Should be a good load to work off of.

since I have not had any rounds tested to date-- please entertain a question
the second column- pressure --(assuming line 4 starts with a 7 not a 9- in which case the variance is more) it looks to have a low of 7100 and a high of 8800, a 1700 psi variance- although the sheet shows 1000 it seems erratic- what max were you looking for? and how do you know where it is headed from the different starting points when you bump the charge |

The psi for line 4 is 9100 . The difference between 9200 high and low 8200 = 1000 . (EV or ES ) Shotshells are a pretty sloppy system and those are good numbers ( while not the best I have ever gotten ) for a shotshell . I am very happy with the consistency of the load. Even an ev of 1700 would be acceptable , I have seen tested Factory loads that where not that good
For me max average would be 11000 psi , for my Ithaca NID . I was hoping for something above 9000 psi and around 1200 -1250 fps . From my experience with Unique in the past an increase of 1 grain should give an increase in pressure of about 500-800 psi ave, and put where I want to be speed wise . the only real way to tell is have it retested . Disclaimer : Everyone should always stick to tested data and should never increase ( or change ) any load without having it retested . |
Thanks mark. Nice to see someone with a worse scrawl than mine. :)

Thanks Mark for providing this data. About to sit down and load a few this week. Can you tell me what the filler wad is in your chart? Rem SP10 + what?

Here is a bismuth load I had tested by Mr. Armburst. 6260psi EV 700psi, 1177fps 15fps EV.
I am not recommending this load but just posting the results for information. |

Mark, little of topic but, do you have a target load for your 10 NID ? Reason I ask is loads I have been using in my Parker 10 Hammer Gun recoil a bit too much in my NID 10. It weighs pound and a half less than the Parker
Thinking 1 1/8 oz and either Green Dot or Unique, Remington hulls cut down to 2 7/8 SP 10 wad with a fiber filler fold crimped. William |
William , I don,t have any 1 1/8oz loads using Green dot or Unique . Green dot should work great for that purpose .
I use a 700x load off the spread sheets that Pete has compiled for us . It is low pressure but shoots just fine . I never shoot any target loads in cold enough weather to worry about it . |
