8 ga hull resizer

i got my hull rezizer today that a friend made for me..i was gona have one made from a wrist pin out of a truck enjine but wayne said they are to hard .the machine shop had some softer material so they took a shell and measured and bored out a heavy piece that looks like a wrist pit...first i hammered in a few with a brass drift some were ok but some were stretched at the lip of the brass...my dad gave me and old press this evening and after about a hout of unfreezeing rusted bolts and such i got it to working with this i canresize a 8 ga remington black hull in one pull of the press..now getting the hull back out of the die or wrist pin is a little more trouble i used a 3/8 extention about 8 inches long to knock them back out...i then tested all the hulls in the parker eight ga..then loaded up 3 shells and shot one of them ...any way a fellow can make him a resizer pretty easy if you know somebody with a machine shop....charlie

Charlie use some imperial sizing die wax or some Lanolin mixed with rubbing alcohol. Lube the brass with it and It will go easier.

Charlie
Show us 8 bore shooters a picture. This will take the lip off that they put on the industrial shells?

Charlie is this going to work with the newer style hulls too or do they still have to be resized on a lathe ?

charlie cleveland 02-10-2015 09:48 PM

no it will not take the lip off but shrinks thebrass to were it will fit in the gun ok.sometimes it will mess a hull up and then i have to take off the extra brass off..but most times it works good the black remington hull is the one that messes up ocasionally...the clear remington does well in the die..will get pictures soon i did 15 hulls tonite and loaded up them with no 2 shot...the hulls do not look as good as tom armbrust s die but they work well... shot a coupla of the shells i loaded up they work fine... thanks wayne for the tip on the lanolin and water trick....will try that next....charlie

forgot the new die will work on the new remington hulls....also a person needs a small press resizeing the hulls...hammering them in ruins to many hulls...charlie

Charlie that is lanolin and alcohol. There is some place on the internet where you can order pure lanolin but I will have to look for it. A bottle last a long time.

just resized several winchester clear hull they were new and several of the remington new black hull 8 ga the rezizer is making perfect hull resizing every time...now all i gota do is get you boys a picture of this simple made resizer..the best thing about it it dont cost much to get one made..the one i got was free..a small press will be needed to make good resize hulls...i see these on ebay quite often...after church maybe i can get the pictures...i pull of the press and them hulls are resized even on a tight chambered gun....charlie

Charlie, don't we all have suitable presses hanging around our loading rooms? I'm waiting for the pictures.
