Change of User Name

Just wanted to let my friends know I've changed my user name from "Chromox" to "Cold Spring".

With the addition of your new 20ga Parker I thought you might have chosen VHE or Meridan possibley Mfg in CT:rotf::rotf:

Rich, Cold Spring has a special meaning to me, but VH would have been good too cuz I also have a VH 12/20 two-barrel set. :)

Frank,

My apologies for prying but you peaked my curiosity. Does your new name have any association with that little area over in Stony Valley?

Marcus

No Marcus I don't know where Stony Valley is, and it's not the name of any valley near the Cold Spring of my youth.

Marc Retallack 02-11-2015 10:23 PM

Thanks Frank. Stony Valley that I was referring to is in Dauphin county. There's an area of the one SGL in that valley that is known as Cold Spring. I thought perhaps there might be a connection. Thanks again. Marcus

Marc,
I cannot believe someone else on this forum knows of Cold Springs in Dauphin Co. PA. I shot my first grouse near there, along the old RR grade many, many, years ago.

Marc Retallack 02-12-2015 04:41 PM

Gary, I wish there were still grouse there. As much as I enjoy hunting grouse in Potter, it would be nice to have an hours drive for a quick weekend hunt instead of a 3 1/2 hr drive to Germania.

I've never been to Cold Spring but I spend a good bit of time fly-fishing in the next valley over on Clark's Creek. I may need to rectify that this year when the weather breaks. As I recall, there was a small town at Cold Spring late 1800's, early 1900's?

Marcus
