BPI crimp starter

Thinking of adding one of these crimp starters to my ever increasing mountain of stuff . https://www.ballisticproducts.com/Su...tinfo/0740006/ My question is this , anyone that loads 8 gauge and has one is this jewel large enough to use on 8’s ? I’m intrested in it for of course 8’s and 10’s .

I bought one, but many of my hulls are trimmed, and therefore the skived portion is removed from trimming. I found it almost useless.

I should think it’ll work fine on the trimmed Cheddercheese 10’s as they’re not very thick at all . I’d be intrested to see how it worked on the trimmed REM 10’s as they’re a bit thicker . As to the 8’s I don’t trim them so with the nice new WIN’s I’d like to think it’ll help . But I could very well be wrong

If you want or need deeper folds lower the crimp starter by putting a washer between it and the frame.

I’ve found not skiving the Remington 10s makes them last longer.

I’ve never done that in what would be called the correct way . The few times I tried I kinda debuted them so to speak with a pocket knife . Since I acquired a Robert’s Industries case trimmer and don’t use the band saw they’re not frayed/rough so I’m good .

Another waste of money. I've trimed many different 12 and 10ga hulls and have never had a problem using the crimp starter that comes on a Mec. And I don't skive hulls.
