A Parker Pedicure

I was speaking earlier today with “Mr. Timberluxe” Brian Board about stock work and checkering and repairs and stuff.

We got to talking about stock repairs and how some repairs can be just about invisible with expert workmanship and the correct finish so that it looks original. Brian mentioned a toe repair he did recently and finished it with just plain Timberluxe and a bit of pigment and sent me a few pictures. That piece of wood beside the stock is what was originally the toe of the stock. I wouldn’t believe it if I didn’t see it.

Nice work Brian!

Impressive!

That one leaves me a little speechless. Brian does fabulous work for sure.

He really does.

After seeing the work on the O frame G grade straight grip stock that Jerry Van Horn got from me on that project gun, I am a believer!!! The head of the stock was hollowed out toast and the toe was damaged, as well. You would never know it now!!

Since Joe mentioned the G stock..I wasn't sure it was the same stock when I got it back..it was that good....About 15 years ago..I sent Brian the stock off my O frame GH/16...32" gun. It had about 1/2 inch of wood chipped at the toe. He slimmed the stock down the length to erase the chip...the reconfigured the DHBP to match.....In addition...Chris Dawe fixed a sliver off a Parker BT..that I didn't have the missing piece to fix it...Repair is flawless..We are indeed lucky to have such craftsmen that are interested in our hobby...(obsession?)

Brian just sent me the "Before" pictures on this pedicure project. Look at how closely the grain of the donor block of walnut matches the place it is being glued to. A true craftsman is a detail man.
