Ultra Sound Cleaning

Hoping for feedback on using ultra sound to clean a Parker receiver or another method to clean receiver. Thanks in advance

I'm still waiting to get mine back from my daughter who borrowed it a couple of years ago to clean her jewelry.....

Ultrasonic works great on old crud. Doesn’t damage case coloring. But it will damage springs. Strip the receiver, and clean springs by hand.

Be sure to use distilled water. Tap water can damage case colors. Learned that the hard way.

So much to remember.

I use Gunk carburetor cleaner and rinse parts with mineral spirits. It has no adverse effect on metal parts and produces excellent results, however, use outside the house and wear hand protection because it loves skin.

I've never heard of a coil spring being broken in an ultrasonic bath, but flat springs, such as those in a Hammer gun lock, start to resonate like a tuning fork at certain frequencies, and there have been a few cases of reported broken springs right at the return bend.
