I'm a FFL/SOT and bought a few guns at an estate sale the other day one of them being a 10 gauge Parker I looked through the information on the site looks like the gun was built in 1874 but couldn't figure out the grade. Any help would be appreciated. https://i.postimg.cc/PJVwrKxW/IMG-1379.jpghttps://i.postimg.cc/GtmDC6c3/IMG-1378.jpghttps://i.postimg.cc/1z1Nt89j/IMG-1376.jpghttps://i.postimg.cc/QxPT26vs/IMG-1375.jpghttps://i.postimg.cc/5t5QFfyN/IMG-1374.jpghttps://i.postimg.cc/02rSHgWc/IMG-1373.jpg

Mr Douglas - Your Parker No. 3196 find is what dreams are made of - however, it is very beat up and abused and would take many thousands of dollars to bring it back to its former glory. A PGCA Research Letter ($100 for non-members) would give the "dollar quality" of your gun but to put it into more commonly used terms it would probably be a $250 or a $300 quality Parker. Later in production it would have been designated as a B grade (5) or an A grade (6) and at the time yours was produced there were no higher grades.
You're a very lucky guy to have found that one - there aren't many left. Now the quandry - What to do with it??? . |
A great find! I can imagine you did very well on it. They are still out there and you never know where they will pop up.

Kevin,
I'm in Lexington and would love to see you're Parker. Kindest, Harry |
I don't normally do this but a research letter will not tell you anything other than what you already know except that the records say it's a 12ga. gun, not a 10ga. gun. Other than it had Damascus barrels which means it's a higher grade, the records won't tell you the Dollar Grade of this gun. Obviously from the pictures it's probably a $250 Dollar Grade gun.

Thanks for the info guys I bought it in a lot of 5 that no one wanted the Parker, a J Reynolds 12 gauge (figured both of them for wall hangers) a Stevens 5100 16 gauge and a coupe of cheap automatic pistols. I mostly deal in newer semi auto or class 3 stuff but try learn as I go.
