Has anyone here had a set of barrels made for a Parker in the UK? I've seen a couple that were done but don't know any of the particulars.A friend of a friend has a high grade gun with ruined barrels and is willing to pay a bunch to get a new set of barrels for it. With all the activity in the UK among the gun makers I thought someone there might have done some new barrels. I'm not talking about sleeving or monoblock but completely new barrels.

Why not just fit up a set of barrels from another gun? If the right set is used and all details are handled properly, they will be assumed to be the original set. And it will likely be less espensive than having a new set made.

And i can assure you that if the barrel set is made and finished over there, what comes back (though it would be quality work) will not look like a set of Parker barrels.

The only way i see having a set made is if it is for a 28g or .410. For larger gauges,finding used barrels is a very realistic option. Especially for 16 and 12.

But sometimes this is entirely impossible, much like finding a needle in a haystack, and you could spend years - even decades - in trying to find, for instance, a set of 32" DD Damascus barrels for a 1-frame 12 gauge lifter......

I would not think that the english can make a set of DD barrels either. So, i assume based on the question that we are talking fluid steel.

Personally, I would recommend that you and/or your friend contact Kirk Merrington. He IS a bit of the UK right her in the US. Texas to be precise. And... he can assess the ruined barrels and provide ANY solution that's needed. Including completely new barrels:

Bill Blacker is a big name in UK barrelmaking. Ex Purdey, I believe. He has a website. John Foster is a UK sleever and gunsmith and I think he attends the Southern.
