Reloading the Short Ten with Paper Hulls
It is my understanding that fiber wads work best with paper hulls. If my load is 19 grs of Red Dot with Rem SP10 wad and 11/8 oz of shot, how do i make this work with fiber wads? I would have to adjust my load upwards but how much? Thanks

That load is pretty anemic with plastic wads as is , the general rule is to increase the powder charge by 10% when switching for plastic wads to card wads . I would start with a 1 grain powder increase and shoot it and see how it does to make sure they are not squib and over a chronograph to check velocity .

Thank you for the responses. Mark, that’s exactly what I wanted to know.

In old reloading manuals that had data for fiber wads, they recommended a 10% decrease of powder if loading " the new " plastic wads. If you're still using the SP-10 wad I'd leave everything where it is - 19grs/Red Dot. The hull itself isn't going to make much difference. It's the plastic wad that seals better making the difference. When loading my 12ga with fiber wads I usually go up 10% with the powder charge. There are some who only reload published loads, and some of us that kind of go by the seat of our pants - within limits. It's really up to you - good luck.
