Fun weekend

This past Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Milt Fitterman PGCA member (aka "builder", his wife Susanne, Milt's buddy Louie and his wife Patti, Daryl Corona (aka "Double Lab"), came to Central Pa. to shoot some sporting clays and wildcat trap. The weather was perfect and we did burn some powder!

We shot wildcat trap at Hummelstown Field & Stream near Hershey Pa. Wildcat is a combination of wobble trap and 5 stand. The wobble trap is in the trap house and there are 8 other traps arranged in a semi circle in front of you. Some out-goers, some incommers, some crossers, and some chondels. The stations are about 6 yards behind the trap house. The first shot at each station comes out of the wobble trap and is a 2 shot option. If you miss on the first shot, you can try and break it on the second shot. The next 2 pairs of shots are what ever the puller wants to throw. They could be report pairs, following pairs, or simo's. You have to be on your toes because he could make it hard or easy if he want's to. It's a fun game.

The first picture shows 3 of the shooting stations. Milt's shooting and you can see the orange target at the top of the tree line.
Second picture is l to r Daryl, Louie, Patti, Susanne, Milt, and Me.
Last picture is of the group at the pullers bench. Dave Balmer runs the show!

Yes it was a fun time but the lovely women almost outshot the men.
Just kidding the women were well trained by Milt as was Louie. The wildcat is a great idea on an old venue. Something to consider for a future event. I shot it 8 times in 2 days and plan on going back this weekend if possible. Ya' think I liked it?
Our researcher shot his new 28ga. Pahhker very well.

What a neat game, never shot that one but it sure sounds like something I could enjoy. Looks like you all had a good time.

I can say it is a lot of fun. If Dave is pulling the surprise it is a game you will never forget.

Jim's accent has everyone at Hummelstown saying "What did he say"?

When in the Army I shot International skeet extensively. After discharge and returning home to Hershey there was very little skeet shooting available so I took up trap. Trap bored me silly and then one day I saw an advertisement to come and try sporting clays at Hummelstown. I went to see what it was all about. The first station was right next to the clubhouse and was a rabbit/bird pair. I went home and got my gun to shoot the course. Gave up trap and have shot mostly sporting ever since. Thanks Hummelstown for being innovative.

Gary, not much has changed. 1st station is still rabbits and in commers

Daryl Corona 09-13-2019 03:32 PM

Gary, Hummelstown is a fun place to shoot but their Wildcat setup on the 5 stand is another game in itself. Let Chuck or I know when you will be there. It would be fun to get together.
