Hammer gun model ?

New member here and I have had a good time reading all the good stuff.
I decided to pull out an old hammer gun that have had for a long time, given to me by my father.

After reading all the posts I was going to have a gunsmith look it over and see if it was safe to shoot. It locks up tight and is in pretty good shape considering it age.

I was getting the info ready to send in for a research letter.

First off I could not find out what model it was, I then look at the butt plate and saw that it was a “Trap Gun” It did not make a lot of sense to me.

Unfortunately I also think the barrels have been cut down as there is no choke in either barrel. They are now 28” long.

I attached some photo’s any info would be appreciated.

If you post the serial number, someone can check the book to see if it is listed and (if so) how it was configured from the factory. Handsome gun.

That bore gage means very little since it only measures the size of the muzzle. Over bored barrels were popular for trap shooting and based on that butt plate that is what that gun was built for. Order the letter, have the bores measured, and go from there. By the way I probably know someone who would repair that buttplate for you if you allowed them to reproduce that buttplate.

Twist barrels and border engrave, looks like a 0 grade to me.

If that butt plate is original to the gun it would be one of the rare Folsom Trap guns.

I assume the butt plate is original based on the history of the gun for past 3 owners.
