Great article, love the pictures.
Side note, I had Doug (15 to 20 years ago) bring back to life (and I mean "back to life") a Colt SAA 45 that had been buffed so most of the letters and serial numbers were gone, and then nickel plated, backstraps paper thin, you get the picture. Doug did not want to even want to restore the gun as it was too far gone, but it was given to me by a long time friend that always wanted DT to restore it, so when he passed away, I wanted Doug to do the restoration of the gun in Bob's memory.. He took it on but gave me no timeline or price and I said do it, which are words I think he didn't want to hear ! I got it back in a year and a half or so later, and it looked like it came out of the Colt factory. When I called Doug to thank him, I asked if he had taken before and after photos of the Colt. And he said "Hell no I will never take on a project like that again". He is not cheap, but he is one of the "Best" and if you want it done right he will he's your man.

I have a GH 30 inch Damascus 20 that I bought from a member here that Turnbull completely restored. The gun is amazing.

After watching that process I will never complain about the cost of a quality restoration.

Skill level

Even after viewing the photos and the process I still cannot get my head around the skill level, care and patience it must take to engrave steel and cut straight lines in wood! No room for error!

Thank you for the post.
